A study in ambient minimalism inspired, in part, by the Japanese notion of Ma, or negative space, where the empty spaces are just as important as the rest of an artwork.

Here, the silences and spaces between the notes are just as important as the notes themselves. It gives each note, and the music in general, space to breathe, and with such spaces, the music can blend into the listener's surroundings.

This is the reality of making music while living near the middle of a busy city. I make music in a studio that is far from soundproof, so there is always noise here and the music blends into that noise as I make it.

I have attempted this kind of music several times over the years, using minimalist approaches, but it almost always ends up sounding vast, like it would fill a landscape. Perhaps this is the same to a certain degree, with that seemingly endless reverb, but it feels more delicate, like the spaces between the notes are more of a feature of the music.

The music is created in a similar way to all previous The Lovely Moon releases, using a variety of generative techniques.
